لبنان اليوم من أكثر البلدان انقسامًا. لكنّ المفارقة أنّ اللبنانيّين أنفسهم، مسيحيّين ومسلمين ممّن يتفشّى بينهم وباء الانقسام، على وعي تام بهويّتهم المشتركة. وعليه، يقوم الكاتب-المرجع كمال الصليبي، من خلال عمله هذا، بإعادة النظر في الأساطير التاريخيّة التي قامت الفئات المتنازعة في بلده باتّخاذها ركيزة لبناء مختلف الرؤى المتضاربة للدولة اللبنانيّة. فيُظهر أنّ لبنان غير قادر على تحمُّل أعباء هذا الانقسام، وأنّ إنماء حسّ بالوحدة السياسيّة من جهة، والمحافظة عليه من جهة أخرى، يتطلّبان التمييز بين الواقع والتصوّر، ومن ثمّ الاستناد إلى ما هو حقيقي في التجربة المشتركة للفريقين معًا. في هذا السياق، يعود كمال الصليبي ليلقي نظرة متفحّصة على التاريخ اللبناني، مسلّطًا الضوء على وقائع بارزة في ديناميّة الصراع اللبناني.

About the Author-
من أهمّ المؤرِّخين اللبنانيّين. حاز شهادة في العلوم السياسيّة من الجامعة الأميركيّة في بيروت، ألحقها بدكتوراه في تاريخ الشرق الأوسط من جامعة لندن. عَلّم في الجامعة الأميركيّة ثمّ تبوّأ فيها منصب رئيس دائرة التاريخ وعِلم الآثار. أسَّس عام 1994 المعهد الملكي للدراسات الدينيّة في الأردن وترأسه حتى العام 2004، حين أصبح مستشارًا لمؤسّسة التراث الدرزيّ، منصب ظلّ فيه حتى تاريخ وفاته. لـكمال الصليبي كتب متعدّدة منها: The Bible Came from Arabia، بلاد الشام في العصور الإسلاميّة، منطلق تاريخ لبنان، ،Une maison aux nombreuses demeures Histoire du Liban، الصادرة عن دار نوفل.
