يؤمن كثير من البشر بوجود الله، إلا أن البعض لا يؤمن بوجوده. فإن كنت تعتقد أن الأمر يعود بالأساس لدرجة تدين الأب والأم، فربما تكون مخطئاً. ما السبب إذن وراء الاختلاف في درجات إيمان البشر؟ وبماذا يؤمن من لا يؤمن؟ في بداية عام 1995، فكَّر فيرناندو أدورناتو، الذي كان آنذاك مدير تحرير مجلة «ليبرال» في أن يفتح حوارًا بين الكاردينال مارتيني وأومبرتو إكو. وفي أثناء لقاء مبدئي في أسقفيَّته في ميلانو، وافق مارتيني على فكرة تبادل المراسلات، وظهرت تلك الرسائل على صفحات الليبرال في الفترة بين عاميّ 1995 و1996. ونُشرت بعد ذلك في كتاب «بماذا يؤمن مَنْ لا يؤمن؟». هذا كتابٌ غريبٌ على ثقافتنا العربية في فكرته، وفيما يطمح إليه. والغرابة هنا ليست بالنسبة إلى الثقافة الغربية (الإيطالية) التي أفرزت مشروعًا كهذا، إذ ليس من المستغرب أن يتحاور رجل دِيْن مع روائي وباحث في السيميوطيقا، يتبنَّى رؤية عَلْمَانية للعالم حول سؤال الإيمان، وما يثيره من أسئلة أخرى. يفتح الرجلان حوارًا أقرب إلى مواجهة، لكنهم لا يواجهون بعضهم البعض، بل يواجهون قضايا منظور الإيمان والإجهاض والنساء في الكنيسة والعنف وأكثر من ذلك بكثير. يدركان أن هذه القضايا ليست مجادلات يتم طرحها ذهابًا وإيابًا من أجل مزاح لا نهاية له، ولكن باعتبارها أساسية لتحديد تعريف للإنسانية. وهي أيضًا مواجهة تجبر القارئ على اتخاذ بعض القرارات أو على الأقل النظر في القضايا التي كان يهملها أو يعتقد أنها بعيدة عنه. استمع الآن.
